Definition of Success
Success means Heroes Car Wash is recognized as more than a wash—it’s the brand families trust, businesses rely on, and veterans are proud to be part of. Growth will be measured not only in vehicles washed and memberships sold, but in stronger community ties and the fulfillment of Heroes’ mission to support veterans and their families.
Meet Rags
Heroes Car Wash takes its name and spirit from real heroes—like Rags, a scrappy Scotch-Irish terrier who became a legend during World War I. Found hungry and homeless in a Paris alley by Private James Donovan, Rags joined the First Infantry Division and quickly proved his worth. He wasn’t just a mascot—he saved lives by warning soldiers of incoming shells, delivering vital messages, and even guiding stretcher-bearers to the wounded. His courage and loyalty made him a true battlefield hero.
After the war, both Rags and Donovan were wounded and evacuated to the U.S. Donovan sadly passed away, but Rags recovered despite losing an eye. Adopted by a military family, he lived a long life as a beloved Army celebrity, appearing in newspapers, meeting generals, and inspiring a book about his adventures. When he died in 1936 at age 20, Rags was buried with full military honors—a lasting symbol of service, resilience, and loyalty. Those same values drive Heroes Car Wash every day.
